RedBloom In Real Life Guest Feature with Mandy Balak

So happy to share our Season 3 guest spotlight on this mega boss babe, Mandy Balak! She is such an inspiring female and we love what she is doing to support other women entrepreneurs and the #yyc community.

Read on for our Q & A with her…..

Mandy Balak

Tell us about yourself and what you do:

“Hi,  👋 I’m @mandybalak and I am the Founder & CEO of The Ace Class, Rise and Date Night YYC , I am also the Executive Director for The Best of Calgary- I am a community builder.  My entrepreneurial career began in 2012 by helping others build better relationships with each other and our city and has now led me to cultivate community all across Canada attracting women with a collective mission to be the best version of themselves.”

How do you define beauty?

“I define beauty as being real, raw and vulnerable. This has been a process for me to discover in my life as I had a different idea of what beauty was growing up. I have always struggled with comparison and that feeling of ‘not enough’ however, the work I have been called to do to support other women to connect deeply with themselves has shown me that real beauty is simply showing up the most real version of you.”

Whats a unique gift that you want to share with the world?

“I naturally see the best in people and as a leader, support others to lean into their potential. If I could share this with others I believe this would influence others to build community around them that is committed to rising up and chasing possibilities without fear of failure.”

How do you continue to bloom?

“To me, ‘blooming’ means growth and evolution and to be willing to bloom requires an open heart. Growth is a core value personally and professionally for me and I believe in a lifelong commitment to learning and am highly invested in my personal development through courses, reading, conferences, meeting new people and traveling every chance I get. I’m always ready to level up.”

What do you think it means to be feminine in this day and age?

“Up until recently, I wouldn’t describe myself as being feminine. I have had to let my walls down and embrace who I am and that’s supported me finding my true self and that doesn’t mean just wearing pink. Being feminine to me means collaboration, compassion and lifting others up and my work with @theaceclass_ and @jointherise_ brings women together to celebrate mutual success.”

What can we do to help empower women/ or become empowered women?

“Empowered women, empower women. Lead by example, smile, compliment someone when you are into their outfit, listen to understand, and open a door for another woman every chance you can.”

THANK YOU MANDY for sharing your #RedBloomInRealLife with us. You truly are an example of an empowered woman and we applaud you in your commitment to help others rise up and be their best!

Mother's Day Makeover with BTV

Together with our friends at Breakfast Television Calgary and Apt 22 we gave one lucky mom a special Mother’s Day Makeover!

Joanne was the lucky winner of the Mother’s Day Makover and we had so much fun making her feel like her best. She had finer hair so we didn’t want to cut too much off so just gave her a trim and reshaped her cut. For the color we darkened her base for a richer red and to cover greys. We also added some balayage to keep it brighter for spring! For makeup we wanted to bring out her blue eyes so we did some gold/brown tones and added a pop with the red lip! Doesn’t she look gorgeous?

So happy we got to be a part of this special BTV Mother’s Day Makeover for a deserving mother!

Thank you to our stylist Jenna-Wade for doing the hair and Britney for doing the makeup.

Also shoutout to Apt 22 for her outfit and Splurge for surprising her with flowers!

Mother, Visionary, Optimist. Why We Walk For Water.

At RedBloom Salons, we divide our year into 8 seasons. This helps us shift our focus with the changes going on in each period of time. It creates a structure for how we plan our year, and allows us to focus on opportunities and special events for each season. You may notice these seasonal changes in our salons, with new beverage menus and by new colours on our social media.

season 3 YIN

From April 1 - May 15, we celebrate Season 3. Spring is in the air and this season, we’re celebrating the YIN! If you’re not familiar with the principle of yin and yang, it stems from ancient Chinese philosophy. The principle of yin and yang states that all things exist as opposites. Black and white. Old and young. Light and dark. As part of our salon seasons, we devote Season 3 and Season 4 to celebrating the feminine, and celebrating the masculine. Yin and Yang.

At RedBloom, we describe celebrating the yin as the celebration feminine energy and power! How perfect it is then, that this season falls along with another celebration near and dear to our hearts. This season we are also celebrating Earth Month.

If you are familiar with the Aveda network, then you know how special Earth month is to us. Every April, we Walk For Water in support of Wateraid. The goal is to bring clean drinking water to those in the world who do not have access to this basic human right. This is a fundraiser we as a salon support every year. If you visit collegaearthmonth.com you will be taken to the website where all the magic takes place. This year, upon entering the site, the first words you will read are these:

Mother. Visionary. Optimist.

If you watch the video, you will learn about a beautiful, strong woman, Justine. Every day she walks to the closest water source to provide even just a little bit of water for her family. In fact, women in sub-saharan Africa spend an estimated 40 billion hours per year collecting water. This amount of time spent collecting water takes her away from her family and children.

At this time there are 844 million people that do not have access to clean water. 2.3 Billion people do not have access to a clean bathroom. We are working to change that. On April 29, 2019 RedBloom is walking for water! We are walking 6km - the average distance women and children walk everyday in developing cities to collect water.

Help us celebrate the yin by donating to this special cause. There are lots of ways you can help us support the cause:

  • Buy a $25 coupon book with $150+ in savings and offerings and give 1 person clean water for life

  • Get a hair treatment and $12 goes to the cause ($12 and $30 treatments available)

  • Purchase a $10 organic cotton tote bag and all proceeds go to clean water

  • Donate $5 or more and be entered to win a gift basket worth $500

Donations can be made in salon or online HERE

We are working toward creating a beautiful world where all people have access to clean water. Join us in celebrating the yin this season!!!

New RedBloom Express Services

We are pleased to announce an innovative NEW SERVICE we are now offering at RedBloom Salon….
Say hello to REDBLOOM EXPRESS SERVICES!

What are these you ask?
A collaborative in salon and at home color experience. Basically, we apply the professional color in salon, wrap it up in our special RedBloom head wraps and you wash the color out at home!

reddbloom express services homecare guide

Want more of a break down on how it works?

IN SALON:
> Check in, get your head wrap, make sure you have color conserving shampoo and conditioner and change into your robe.
> Next, you'll have a consultation with your stylist who will go over the homecare guide and have you sign a waiver.
> Then your color will be applied and we'll place on your head wrap.
> Before you check out, we'll set a timer on your cell phone for when you need to rinse, make sure you have your homecare guide and send you on your way!
AT HOME:
> Wait for the color to process (it's your time, do what you like!)
> At the recommended time, follow the instructions on your homecare guide and rinse out your color in the comfort of your own shower.
What you do after that is up to you!

redbloom+express+color+services+offered

What type of express color services will we be offering?

> Full - just like it sounds, this is an all over color
> Root - covers up that regrowth
> Part - this is a t-section that will cover your part and around your face

Are you a candidate for our RedBloom Express Services?
To receive these express services, it needs to be a tried and true formula that we have previously used on your hair; this helps us ensure the results. It can be a solid color, a gloss or even a toner for you blondies in between a highlight appointment.

women-on-the-go redbloom express service

Why did we create RedBloom Express Services?

To save you time and money, while still enjoying the same great salon service. Because we think that you shouldn't have to sacrifice on professional service to have fresh, beautiful color all the time.

We heard you. More and more women want to spend less time in the salon but still want to keep up their color. So what were the options? Trying your hand at box color? Wearing hats? Feeling uncomfortable with your regrowth? Hair mascara? Well, we think you should have better options than that, which is why we are bringing you EXPRESS color services. We know many of you lead busy, on-the-go lives and sometimes it's hard to fit that time in for a fresh color. With our innovative express color services, we've created a way so YOU CAN fit in that color appointment because you deserve fresh color more often.  Because less time sitting in the salon chair = more time for real life

Another bonus of our RedBloom Express services? THE SAVINGS! We know getting regular colors can add up and sometimes that may even prevent you from coming into the salon. But our express color services can provide an option to still get a professional color and have a great salon experience at a lower cost. Check out our SERVICE MENU page for pricing reference for the Express Services

Sound appealing? Let us know if you think this is a service you'd like!

“The power of my story. And the gift of “Believing.” Believing in another human being when they cannot believe for themselves or in themselves (yet)”
