Smokey Eye Makeup Tutorial

A few weeks ago we showed you a back-to-school makeup tutorial, great for an everyday look. This week we bring you part 2 and show you how to take that look from day to night by adding a soft smokey eye!

If you've always wanted to try a smokey eye but were never quite sure how to pull it off, this is definitely a good basic tutorial for you to hone those smokey eye skills.

Step-by-step

1. Using a black eye pencil, line both upper and lower lash line using quick, short strokes. We used Aveda petal essence eye definer in black orchid.

2. Next use a small shadow brush to blend and soften liner by gently brushing over it.

3. Then line the inner lash line of the bottom lashes with the black pencil.

4. Next using a small eyeshadow brush apply a black shadow to smudged liner and blend upwards. We used Aveda black tulip to from their petal essence eye colour trio.

5. Lastly use medium brown shadow like Aveda Aura shimmery taupe, to add depth to the crease.

6. If you have any loose shadow below your eye, use a large powder brush to lightly dust it off.

7. If you don't already have it on, finish with a black mascara.

Back-To-School Makeup Tutorial

Get ready for back-to-school with this fresh, everyday makeup tutorial using Aveda makeup. In 10 easy steps you can be looking and feeling great!

1. Start by applying tinted moisturizer all over with fluffy synthetic brush- using the stippling technique for even coverage. (We used Aveda inner light™ mineral tinted moisture broad spectrum spf 15)

2. Pat concealer: peach under eyes, yellow for spots using small fluffy synthetic brush. (We used Aveda inner light™ concealer)

3. Set with a loose mineral powder with big powder brush. (We used Aveda inner light™ mineral loose powder)

4. Apply blush on the apples of cheeks with medium blush brush, deposit color then clean brush then blend up and out. (We used Aveda petal essence™ face accents in Peach Lights)

5. Next use a bright eye shadow color using medium sized brush, apply from lash line to crease using stippling technique then blend edges to soften. (We used Aveda petal essence™ eye color trio in Violet Bloom)

6. Soften lips with renewing lip treatment. (We used Aveda nourish-mint™ renewing lip treatment)

7. Use an eyebrow brush to tame any strays.

8. Apply a light shimmer color to highlight cheek and brow bone. (We used the lightest color from Aveda petal essence™ face accents in Peach Lights)

9. Using a small lip brush apply a tinted lip glaze. (We used Aveda nourish-mint™ rehydrating lip glaze in Pearl Rose)

10. Set face with toning mist. (We used Aveda botanical kinetics™ toning mist)

Full Red Lip Tutorial

Steps:

1. Moisturize with Aveda Lip Saver

2. Fill your lips with Aveda Colorless Lip Liner. This will prevent your lipstick from bleeding onto your face.

3. Use a lip brush and outline your lips with chooses lipstick colour.

4. Make sure to apply it from the outside in. This will make your lips appear fuller.

5. Next apply your lipstick (we used Aveda Sweet Plum), using the same technique as the liner working from the outside to the middle.
